htarragon
What info do you need? As a macro, it only goes to 1:2, not 1:1. You can get to 1:1 with an extension tube. As you probably know, it's manual focus and on a modern Pentax, you won't have automatic aperture either - you'll need to use the green button.
If you Google:
"smc-M 100mm macro manual f/4", you'll get more info.

Howard

stemked
Hi Lauren Try Googling Boz and Pentax, You should come to Boz's excellent web page that has information. I have the optically identical A version of this lens, but as noted by Howard you M version has no electronic connectors so you will need to use it in manual exposure mode (the A version allows you to use auto exposure options). So the lens is more work, but once you nail it down it is optically a brilliant lens. And the lens is a real pleasure to manually focus, perhaps the most enjoyable manual lens I own to manually focus.

hinman
I had this lens for a while and it doesn't have the M keyword and the rear is typical of Pentax K lenses. You need to use green button for metering. It is a great lens especially in the focusing ring and build.

with K10 and I mentioned it in my blog post before

MattB.Net
I really like mine too. Mine does have PENTAX-M next to the front element. It even has some fungus in it but as long as direct light isn't hitting the front element I can't see it in the photos.
<a title="IMGP2790.jpg by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6210/6113374415_90ae0d67f1_z.jpg" alt="IMGP2790.jpg" width="425" height="640" />
User_502260
Hin, that's a beautiful shot. I use a 90/2.5 Tamron SP [52BB] with my Pentax K-x.
doug_nelson3
An inexpensive Pentax screw-to-K adapter will open up the 100mm f4 SMC to you. You will have the same manual focus and metering issues as your M, but you may be able to find it cheaper. Mine was about $75. I don't think you can go wrong with any macro in that 90-100mm range.

andrewg_ny
I have one of these too (mine is Pentax-M). Optically leaves little to be desired, is more compact and costs less than half what a f/2.8 1:1 Pentax-A or newer will go for. 1:2 is close enough most of the time.
