Thanks for starting this Douglas!
I went out a couple of nights this week. First with my son looking for meteors. We saw one really big one (no photo) that was his first shooting star which was exciting for him.
I took this of some local petroglyphs which are estimated to be about 2000 years old with a draconid meteor overhead.
.
I went out again the next night, this time solo. The meteors didn't make an appearance so I took a bunch of photos of the moon and Venus and also this self portrait.
Finally one from yesterday while I was out on my bike.

@Matt, the 2nd shot is amazing. It is intriguing. Is that a flash in the tree? It looks like a beautiful star with two ring lights shining on MattB -- a super star among us in photo.net family. It is a blessing to have you sharing great photos with us. If you ask me, the shot is better than meteors shooting.

Thank you Hin! I was happy with it too. I had a small backpacking lantern hanging in the tree for that one which did produce some very nice flare. It was this one: http://www.backcountry.com/black-diamond-orbit-lantern-bld0414 which has adjustable output making it very handy for night shooting since I can turn the output way down to match the low light of the night sky. That was a 20s exposure.

I re-edit some of my old pictures and this one comes from a series of picture that I took of my son in 2007 with my 1st Pentax camera with K100D. I really like the series of pictures and the precious moments stay in my vivid and fond memory of my younger boy having fun in drinking and self-playing with a bottle of spring water.

An amazing self portrait, Matt!

I haven't been using my Minolta scanner much lately, so I scanned some old negatives today. Here is one of them.
Tamron 90mm SP Di/Pentax MZ-S/Arista Premium 400

Nice Matt--the Milky Way over your shoulder is a nice touch. The stream is really nice too--wonderful light.
That's a blue ribbon photo, Guus!

As usual it's a mixed bag for me:
A snail with the FA*200/4 (it's hard to get that lens off the K-5 IIs)

And one of a great many Field Hockey shots with the Sigma 100-300/4:

I took out my Rikenon XR 300mm f/4.5 PK lens for a spin. Intended to try for water birds, but ended up in a garden shooting butterflies. Don't really think of it as a macro lens, with minimum focus distance of 2.5 feet, but the working distance is great for skittish insects. I haven't had results this good with it before.

00c4Uo-543055084.jpg.b3c4558e3ea5c2be665f2c7088b2bce4.jpg

Hey thanks for all the kind words on my night shots!
I had fun making them. The self portrait was an afterthought before I packed up and left and it's now my favorite from that session.
Standout shots for me were:
Hin's Johnson baby. Such intensity!
guus - that water droplet is very cool. The image in the drop and reflection are great.
Dave - the construction worker, great lines.
Nice, nice little butterfly!
