Behind The Scene with the Canon 5D Mark III

Recommended Posts

I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of the first 5D MarkIII available in Canberra, Australia Capital, last Thursday.
It couldn't be better timing as I had a fashion shoot planned for the saturday.
Although I wanted to shoot with this new Canon 5D Mark III, I did the shoot with my Hasselblad H4D40.
Here is one shot with the 5D3, converted into jpeg with DPP and then edited with CS6 beta.

Not that the picture is bad, but what's so special about it? One could take the same picture with a 5dmkii or even with a crop camera.

It's not the camera that makes this picture, it's the backdrop, the lighting, the make up and the models. Deep dof, low dynamic range, plenty of light, still subject... none of the 5dmkiii's new features come into play.

The OP is excited to have acquired the latest and greatest toy/tool and needs to shout out from the rooftop of photo.net.

Afterall, such an announcement at home or church is likely to be befuddling or boring. So here he was hoping for a

sympathic audience....

Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see.

Tough crowd?

Not really - but at the end of the day this is "just" a picture, with nothing stand-out about it: no exif, no shooting details, nothing 5D Mk III-specific to discuss about it, and as others say, if this thread is about the 5D Mk III, what makes this picture special in the context of that discussion?

Personally I need a lot more than an OK picture of two pretty girls in a controlled setting before I get excited about the camera that took it.

For sure it was a quick excited post at around 2AM here in Australia...
Also on the blog I put some shots in Av, AWB and auto ISO...
Well, it seems that leaving the camera doing its thing still give better results than the 5D Mark II with same settings..
I'll be shooting a wedding tomorrow so will be putting it to the test in a real shooting assignment..
After all, it's just a camera right? But it is so much fun to play with new toys when it become available.

Bless all.
One more at ISO 4000:
