bettiecl
Does anyone have experience to share on the topic of pricing your photo to an author who wants to use your photo for an e-book (book to be published online).
Author is established and has won prizes for three of the books, previously printed in hardcopy. Now she wants to market those books online and has selected some of my photo's as possible front covers. The fourth book she wants a photo of mine for the front cover, will be a first time release, only online.
And estimate, in US dollars?
And, how does one calculate the price if the author tells you she has no idea whether the books will sell online, let alone how many. She also has no idea, she says, of how much she hopes to earn from these e-marketing.
Anyone out there with some advice?
I should be so grateful for sharing your wisdom. :-)
Bettie from South Africa
acedigital
Whatever it's worth to you to get potential exposure and "bragging rights". You may want to include a clause in your "licensing agreement" that you would get a "bonus" if the book sells more than "x" number of copies. For online sales, a pretty cover does attract initial interest.
craig_shearman1
Do the ASMP pricing guides cover this? As a starting point, I would ask how many copies she sold of her hardcover books each and base the price on that.
