jamie_robertson2
Here's a challenge for you. What is the most compact 35mm SLR camera including a 28 or 35mm lens? Must have a built in flash. Suggestions welcome.
zane1664879013
Pentax *ist. Pick a lens of your choice, it's an SLR. The Pentax 40mm pancake would be best for "small."
http://mailch.blogspot.com/2011/05/users-review-pentax-ist-starist-35-mm.html
jamie_robertson2
Thanks Zane, that's one I hadn't thought of. The pancake lens looks nice, shame it isn't a little bit wider though.
DWScott
A slightly wider lens, that is still small and very light, would be the Pentax DA 35mm f/2.4. While sold as a digital-only lens, I find that it covers the 35mm film frame very well.
Other small Pentax bodies to recommend are the MZ-7 and MZ-6/ZX-L.
The Nikon N75 is also a tiny little gem, with built-in flash. It would be quite small coupled with an AF 28mm 2.8.

flatulent1
I had a Nikon N80 for a while, very small and light. Extremely capable camera. I wish I hadn't sold mine.

If it doesn't have to be an SLR, then I'd say the Olympus Stylus Epic. 35mm lens, built-in flash. Tiny. Excellent quality. Carry two or three with different film in them.
jamie_robertson2
Thanks all,

The Pentax *ist does look nice. Thanks to David for the DA 35mm f2.4 suggestion.
Fred, I use my Stylus Epic a lot but I get annoyed sometimes when it doesn't focus on what I want it to. That's why I'm looking for a very small SLR so I can see exactly what I am focusing on. I need something to fit into my coat pocket.
rdm
2 Questions..
1) does it have to be a camera body with with mount for interchangeable lenses?
2) does the Flash have to be built in or can it be a Small add on?
