timwitt
What is the XA type camera with the peg like shutter release behind the XA type in front that has a normal red/soft shutter release.
I've never seen an XA type camera with a shutter release other than the red/soft release.
q.g._de_bakker
It's an XA1. No battery (selenium cell meter), so it has a mechanical shutter release.
chuck_foreman1
THe Graphic 35 is an interesting piece tht lever front left is the shutter release and it is built-in camera shake ! The focusing is unique; the button just above the release and the other matching one the the right! I used it twice ! Lens was mediocre performer. The RF must have been OK I can'T rememebr how that was!
timwitt
Thanks Q.G., I have two XA's and one XA2. The XA1 and XA4 seem rare. This is a good source of information XA types.
http://www.diaxa.com/xastart.htm
dave_g1
I think Graflex sourced lenses from several sources over the life of the Graphic 35. Some may be better than others. I think Kowa may have even supplied some towards the end.
markus maurer
Tim, the first XA1 is not rare, at least in Europe, the XA4 with 28mm lens is but still I found one in good shape with flash for $15 a year ago.
profhlynnjones
I have one among my historic antiques (I use them for my Photo History Class). It was the last and best of the Graphic 35's, produces darned good photos, partly made in Germany and partly made by Graflex. I love mine, although I've been a professional for 65 years, I admire the many things about it. 1955-1957, prontor shutter probably around 30 to 45 bucks at most but I wouldn't sell mine although I will probably sell most of my film cameras due to teaching only digital now.
Lynn
