SmugMug vs IFP3

Recommended Posts

Been using IFP3 for my website for a number of years now and am planning a major overhaul/update in 2012. Although IFP3 started out strong, it seems like they have really slacked off in upgrades and improvements over the last year or so. I inquired in the IFP3 forums about improvements coming in 2012 a few days ago and so far not a single response. Not good... Seems like Smugmug and Zenfolio are offering better services for less $ anyway.
I've seen good things about Zenfolio, but looking at maybe switching to Smugmug since they are partnered with Bay Photo Labs and that's the local lab I use for prints.
Any thoughts from folks using Smugmug for their website?

Mike, Zenfolio and Smugmug seem to be the favorites. I am very pleased with Smugmug. Have used them since 2007 and sold over a thousand prints/products to clients with no complaints so far! They offer 2 printing companies. One for custom printing and product gifts and another company (Bay Photo which you already mentioned) for even higher quality printing. I have always used their basic printing company (EZ Prints) and clients have been satisfied. You post the images and Smugmug does all the paperwork. Later, you just let them know that you want your check:)

At Smugmug you can customize your website to your desire. Here is my site which I made very basic. http://www.johnhillphotography.com/ I have just never got around to making it fancy but it works well for my clients. My Smugmug website also appears high in search engines. Using yahoo or google I am at the top of the page of both. They also offer unlimited photo storage. Always nice to have an extra place to store your images.

I too am using Smugmug and have been very happy with them (www.mariosforsos.com). True, I had to go through some pains to make it look like I wanted it to (I have no idea about HTML or CSS, but the Smugmug customisation forum solved ALL my problems), but now it works flawlessly. I tried Zenfolio too, but their default gallery and menu structures simply did not fit with what I had in mind, so that's why I ended up with Smugmug.
