rod_larson
This photo of a walking path along the Mississippi River was taken 5/22/10 (with a Yashica Lynx 14e IC.
As you can see both sides were heavily wooded. The vegetation on the forest floor was very sparse and
consisted mostly of white snake root.

rod_larson
On May 22 of this year a tornado ripped through the area and took down most of the trees
exposing what had once been a heavily shaded area to sunlight. The transformation was
remarkable. The vegetation, mostly burr cucumber on the left side, just exploded and totally
carpeted the area. The new vegetaion also attracted such a huge number of bees and other
insects the humming of their wings was quite audible when you walked by.

This photo was taken with a Voigtlander Vitessa L(2) on 9/22/11.

rod_larson
Okay, so now you are wondering where is the camera porn. Well, here it is.

I've had the Lynx 14E for about a year and a half now and it is truly a great rangefinder and a
joy to use.

The Voigtlander Vitessa L(2) was aquirred about a month ago. It is one of the nicest range-
finders I have ever used. The shutter is so quiet it's hard to tell if its even working. Using a
plunger to advance the frame and cock the shutter seems likely to be slow and awkward but
it allows you take a series of photos very rapidly, much faster than the converntional lever
frame advance. It is also a very nice looking camera and once it is closed up it will easily fit
in a pocket.

tony_lockerbie
Interesting to see the before and afters. I hope those trees will grow back, but I guess that nature goes in cycles like that.
As for the cameras, porn they are! Love the Lynxes, and the Vitessas are just beautifully built, a real joy to look at and use. I rekon that Voigtlander were at the height of their powers when this was produced, and the Ultron was probably their best optic....well, maybe the Heliar!
JDMvW
Interesting -- nice comparison shots.

We had similar problems with a "super derecho" back in 2009. It isn't pretty when this sort of things happen, but even a couple of years have brought back a lot.

I have a Penti camera with the same sort of "advance"/poke-your-eye out post that sticks out. Perhaps not one of the all-time great innovations, whoever came up with it first. ;)
jean_moxhet
Vitessa L is my favorite! The Ultron lens is really great.
Strange that your "after" pic is not so sharp...

mfophotos
Bill - yes, it is. If was Kudzu, you would have even seen anything else.
