Greetings from the depths of northern Ontario.
The very well defined edge of Irene was overhead here when the eye was over NYC 1,000km away. It really put the size of that system into perspective.
Harry (7 mo Corgi) had a play date with Sable (8 mo Afghan/Shepherd/Lab mix). There was lots of action. Here they are trying to out-do each other at making crazy eyes. It was one instant when they weren't moving at 100km/hr.

00ZGP1-394369884.jpg.04a9c462dd44efa7cbcc3175820c7b2b.jpg

Happy Wednesday everyone. Went to a Civil War Muster this last weekend. Photo from the battle involving the Confederate Calvary against the Union cannons, thus the Retreat. Nikon D7000 Tamron 18-270mm lens. Photos were defintely not the same quality as my last "battle" photos taken with my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8. The Tamron is pretty good in good light, but fails in bad lighting conditions at longer focal distances.

Nice to see a few still-lifes this week, and I was torn between the shot below and one of a windmill, so I'm glad I didn't go with the windmill after seeing the lovely shot already submitted.

This is from an ongoing theme of "reclamation", observing how nature will quite quickly reclaim almost any man-made intrusion.
Tech data: D700 + Tokina 28-70 f/2.8 AT-X lens; 1/640th @ f/8. Colours and tones tweaked a bit using GIMP software.

00ZGPb-394379684.JPG.653cc9fa4517a0884d0204651056c6b6.JPG

Great shots this morning!! I hope everyone weathered the storm OK. Got to go back to the butterfly garden on Sat. My photographer friend said to go earlier when they are sleepier. They were supposed to be slower and easier to shoot. Well we were still having strong winds left over from the hurricane. I still got plenty cool pics. I didn't want to bore you with another butterfly pic so this beetle was hanging on for dear life and kind enough to pose for me.
Nikon D3, Sigma 150 2.8 macro, 1/200 sec, F/13, 800 ISO, SB 900 Flash

00ZGPp-394387684.jpg.2225f04b16a131dc146a0fe0ca837517.jpg
