digitaldog
Calibrated: Alter the display to a desired behavior. Example, a specific white point, or luminance of the back light. Every display should provide control over the backlight. Few provide useful control over the white point (they use look up tables in the graphic system to alter the color, not ideal but better than a mismatch. Better, higher end displays provided larger look up tables inside the panel itself, using high bit data).
Profile: Measure the response of the display, build an ICC profile to reflect that.
Any display can be profiled. Is it properly calibrated? Maybe, maybe not.
Author “Color Management for Photographers" & "Photoshop CC Color Management" (pluralsight.com)
