arnulfo_rosas1
I just bought a brand new split focusing screen to use manual focus lenses with my D7000 yet I do not know how to remove the standard screen from the camera. The instruction manual is not that clear in that respect. Can somebody help?. Thanks in advance!.

kohanmike
I find this very interesting, in 1972 when I got my first F2 Photomic with a split focus screen, I decided to replace it with a screen that fucussed over the entire screen just like digital screens do now. I found the split was harder to see and less accurate.
bgelfand
In 1972, my eyes were 39-years younger. I do not have s split screen for my F100, so I use the electronic range finder. My 68-year old eyes can still see the green light come on.

Nothing like getting older to make one appreciate auto-focus. <grin>
rodeo_joe1
+1 to Michael's comment. I have never understood the attraction of split-wedge focusing, microprisms or the like, and I've been a lifelong spectacle wearer. Who wants all that extra distraction right in the middle of the picture area?
pge

Who wants all that extra distraction right in the middle of the picture area?

For one, I do. I have switched focus screens to split screens in 3 cameras now including my D700. It just works better for me.
cameracrack
How's it working out for you? This is something I also plan on doing very soon.
I still use all my film cameras. I have a D7000 as well and most of the time my photos are not focused correctly if I do it manually. So I have made the decision to switch to a split screen.
