As I threatened to last week, I'm posting another of the prost-production pieces from last weekend's litter portrait shoot. This is another 6-week-old German Shorthair pup, looking wistfully at my patient assistant while we worked. Used your Nikon gear to produce some material you're still slogging your way through, weeks later? Share a photo!

bikealps
This weekend I photographed the USA Cycling Northern California Junior District Track Championships at Hellyer Park Velodrome.
This photo is Andrew Lanier, Jr finishing the 3 km 17-18 pursuit event. He is the dominant rider in NorCal track. I believe he won every single event. He got a few national titles last year. He is also a very nice young man, very down to earth, logical and sensible. He even did a good job fixing my bike last summer when he used to work at the bike shop. It's a joy to photograph him and I'm eager to see his cycling career develop in the coming years.

whoops caption is wrong. camera was a D3, not a D90. can't fix the caption once you type it in.

Andrew smoked the pursuit (essentially a time trial). He also won the points race, lapping the field and then winning the field sprint as well!

CoryAmmerman
Excellent work so far everyone. This is from a couple of weekends ago. I decided to do a little indoor macro work so that I wouldn't have to deal with the near 100 degree temps and could work at my own pace. This shot was taken with my 28-105 zoom and PK-13 extension tube. I decided to add a bit of off camera flash, and, since I have no flash sync cord, I had to fire the flash manually using the test button and varying the distance to get the desired intensity. With a shutter speed of 1/13 second, timing the flash just right was hit or miss, mostly missing. I'll be picking up a flash cord soon. :-)

eric_arnold
so, last week i helped judge a photo contest for my city (Oakland) 's tourist/convention board. some great entries, a way cool experience, inspiring. but the consensus was that their competition needed more live shots. with that in mind, i shot this:
