will_daniel1
I posted this elsewhere as a response to an earlier question, but later realized I posted it two full weeks after the last comment. So I thought I would post it here in all seriousness... Whatever happened to Rochester Institute of Technology? With its proximity to and support from Eastman Kodak, it was once one of the premier schools for this profession. I just checked and they still offer programs in both fine art photography and photojournalism, among many others. I'm just curious why it doesn't come up in discussions here about "which school is best for me?" etc. Has this once fine institution slipped out of mainstream consciousness and lost its former position as a leader? maury_cohen
I'm curious to hear as well. I applied to both RIT and "Art Center" back in 1975. The only openings at RIT, at that time, were in Photofinishing Technology. How times have changed!
henryp
My experience is RIT is great for technical work but they're not particularly known for turning out artists. At one time RIT grads went to work for Kodak while SVA grads used Kodak. :-)
BTW noted photographer Minor White taught at RIT.

Henry Posner
B&H Photo-Video
Henry Posner B&H Photo-Video
