chris888
Windows-7 IE-8
I want to post a main photo as a documentary. After that I want add maybe another 6x smaller photos beneath main photo to illustrate what happens. Using the critigue option on myself I want to add these with steps/descriptions. As the window coming up says I 1st load a test photo to this site and to Photo Bucket 85Kb, They load, but neither from any site wants to display, hows a cross.
The idea is to load a main photo with a short string of happenings/with desriptions and only then present this for comments/critigue.
What is causing this, or is it just not possible. The reason is, I want immediate continuity beneath same photo, and not the whole episode illustrated with a slide show or separate photos.
Thanks
Chris
It also happens in this tread:

joshroot
I'm sorry Chris, but I just don't understand. Can you take another swing at spelling out the issue?
Matt Laur
I believe that he wants to post an image to his gallery, allowing critique comments. Then he wants to immediately post comments of his own, each with an image and additional text, so that he can show the original critique request in some sort of documentay context.
I'll guess that the main question is: can you add image-bearing comments to the critique thread following your own posted image?
joshroot
There shouldn't be any issue with doing that. you just make a comment and add in the extra photo after you click "confirm".

I'm still confused about the "test photo" and photobucket comments though.
Matt Laur
Looking at the broken image links in the OP above, I see that he's trying to use the WYSIWYG editor (or straight HTML) to include an image IN the comments, but is using the URL for the page where the image is located, not the URL of the JPG itself. If his confusion is causing that to happen with PN image URLs, it's possible that's also happening with images located on other web sites (like photobucket).

Chris: when you're trying to insert an image INTO a comment (rather than uploading an image to a comment using the the form that appears after you submit the comment), be sure you're using the URL (the web address) of the image file itself (like http://somewhere.com/someimage.jpg - though of course that's just a format example, and doesn't really work) rather than the URL of a web page that happens to show you that image as part of the page.
chris888
1-I want to post a main picture of a Calf saved at birth.
2-Immediately after that, in the comments phase below main pic, I want to add subsequent pics with descriptions, pics of a smaller size, less than 100Kb as I understand.
3-When this had been uploaded, only then I want to present it for comments. So I don't want comments mixed in while I am uploading the pics, about another 6 of them.
4-So if a viewer had looked at the complete story, he/she can comment.I feel adding the pics below main pic in same post will give a better experience than a slideshow of separate pics.
I don't want comments on separate pics, but rather on the whole experience.

What I experienced:After loading the main pic, I added the 2nd pc, called step-1.It looks like it gets uploaded, but instead of showing the pic, I see a cross. What is causing the cross?
I get the cross if pic is uploaded with comment beneath main pic, or if I refer to a link of same pic in photo-Net or Photo-Bucket.I always sees a cross.
Matt Laur
Sounds like those files may not be the right format.
Matt Laur
As a test, Chris, try adding such an image to a comment in this thread. That way we can see just what's happening.
joshroot
I agree, it sounds like you are uploading in an incompatible format. You should be uploading jpegs.
Matt Laur
And don't forget: it's possible to save a file that's called a JPG, but which greater than the normal (web-friendly) 8-bits-per-channel depth. I've seen that mistake happen many times. Be sure you're not saving at 16 bits per channel when you make those JPGs.
