User_276104
I saved the first photo posted and opened it in Capture NX. It says it was taken at f/3.5 and 135mm. If focus was indeed with a center sensor, it is off a bit but you can't expect much depth of field at only f/3.5 with a telephoto zoom.

richardsnow
@ Maurice -

I'm sorry I offended you. I do not have an opinion on this lens, I simply stated yesterday that because you had it in your head that you would find something wrong with the lens that you would. Low and behold, you have determined that your lens is back focusing!

Because you claimed that there are many documented issued with this lens, I did some searching. Looks like a few people have commented on back focusing... @~200mm at close focusing distances...not exactly how I would describe your shot (front focusing at quite a distance)

I'm sorry that you seem to have front focusing issues, but I have yet to see any solid proof, (and likely never will since lens tests can be fabricated...). All I've seen is you ranting about this lens' downfalls.
By all means, send it back...you had a change of heart and that's OK...it's why companies like B&H and Adorama have return policies! Stop finding phantom issues with this lens, return it, and get the 105mm f/2.8 and be happy...

RS

jim_ducey
The lens align Mark ll or Spyder make focus targets with how to directions. The lens align is about $80 the spyder is $60 Link to first one https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=304 photo of the unit. If you just want to do one lens your local camera store should be able to correct it for less. Over time many lens and camera combinations need to be rercalibrated.
Jim
