<p>just updated my D90(on an iMac), took about 4 minutes. thought it was pretty easy but you do need to follow their steps.</p>

<p>I consider myself a fairly literate computer person but I'm having trouble here. First this is called a "firmware" update so I'm assuming this is stuff that ultimately resides in the camera. I downloaded the Windows .exe file successfully and expected that when I ran it it would tell me to connect the camera, etc. But nothing like that happened. All I get is a Nikon folder on my desktop with a couple of trivial files in it. HELP!</p>

<p>My gosh. I haven't gone through this yet but it's mind numbing. I think maybe Nikon needs to hire some real software folks. How the heck can you download 6.5 MB of data when only 116 KB gets loaded onto the SD card that enters data into the camera? Mind boggling! I am NOT amused.</p>

<p>Seems the same as every other firmware upgrade I've done except there being an EXE creating a folder on the desktop. You still drop the bin file on a card and then insert it in the camera and run the firmware upgrade option.</p>

<p>Loading the .BIN in the camera was sort of simple. But why didn't Nikon just have me download the 105 KB .BIN file instead of having me download a 6.5 MB .EXE file that does nothing more than extract the .BIN file? Seems very dumb to me.</p>
