graybrick
He's got a lens hood which has been turned backwards, and a filter bracket in his hand.

CoryAmmerman
It appears to be a filter holder of the Cokin or Lee variety. Hard to say what filters he'd be using. Since it appears slightly overcast during the shoot, maybe a warming filter?
larrydressler
Could also be a ND filter.
rdm
Well it is a standard Gelatin type or Square filter holder , you can use it to put many different types of gelatin or square filters in it . When multiplied by 10 or more filters its sometimes cheaper and always faster easier to switch filters with that than using the screw on types.
This is the first pages from MY Hoya brand filter holder, Similar to what you seen in that video.

rdm
Your Welcome Larry ;)
By the way, to this day i have never used it. I intended to when i purchased it 5 years ago, but the filter ring adapter is sold separately. I couldn't decide what size i wanted and never got around to looking for one to buy. lol
