photojen
As some of you may have read in a post I posted in the Nikon Forum a few days ago, I had a super challenging time photoing a drumming ensemble. I was told the day before, that I was not to use a flash and that the setting had change from a large stage to a small 3 stage light stage. When I got to Kripalu, I found the stage had been changed again, and I had only 4 small recessed lights, and no flash, to work with. I was quite disappointed, but I managed to get a handful of photos that are pretty decent, still far from perfect (shadows and stuff). They only photos I could salvage were those where the ladies were perfectly place under the lights, such as this photo. This is Patti, and I made a friend for life, when I met her. Not only is she an amazingly powerful, spiritual and beautiful woman, she lives in the same town as me (and we have met up already for tea)...I am so glad to have met this kind soul so not only did a new friend come from this experience, but I challenged my photo skills and did somewhat decently.

Tim Holte, I dig your entry...the composition is amazing.

wpahnelas
i read on the nature forum once how ducks that flee when approached by humans on foot were unconcerned when approached by canoe. i was curious about whether birds would react differently to me when sitting on the ground, as opposed to standing in the same spot. it appears from the results that birds are pretty tolerant of a photographer sitting on the ground, as i was only a few feet away when this photo was made.

birdied
Great shots everyone. I have not had much time for shooting of late. This is a scan from film taken several years ago with the N90S .
I was on an old wooden schooner in Apalachicola Bay , Florida when this shrimping boat passed by. There are not too many small shrimping vessels in the area any more as they are being replaced by the large commercial vessels.

lisae
It always seems wasteful to throw out a perfectly good pumpkin just because it's December. As my husband was putting up Christmas lights last weekend, I decided to make our pumpkin part of the Christmas decorations. I haven't decided whether it's going to stay there. :)

phil_burt
Great photos for yet another Wednesday Bonanza. My entry today is from a concert on Dec. 3rd. This is the lead singer/mandolin player from a local Family Gospel/Bluegrass band here in Marshall County, Kentucky.
I did use a flash but the main lighting came from the stage lighting. Sometimes this setup produces a lot of magenta and I have a real hard time with it, this time he stood in a different place not having the heavy magenta look to it.
I used Photoshop to crop and clean up the black background from extraneous light .
My camera setup: Nikon D90, Sigma 70-200 @ 200mm, f2.8, 1/60, iso 400, flash, hand held.
phil b
benton, ky

Keith Gierman
I haven't posted anything in a while as I didn't think I had anything of interest. I have been trying Nik Software's HDR Efex Pro and this was my first effort. The originals were not shot with HDR in mind but just varying exposures as the sun set. When I reviewed the originals I decided to give HDR a try with the images. The wind was blowing and moving the palms a lot (even in single images) by I like the end result.
Keith

famico
Wow, great stuff already! I love these Wednesday threads. This is one I played with quite a bit. Taken at Mission San Juan Capistrano during their Christmas at the Mission event. There were so many people there it was hard to shoot anything without folks in the way, so I looked for different angles. I liked the bare bones of this picture, but thought it needed something more. Processed in PSE, using a Topaz and sepia filter.
