I love coming home from work and viewing the humbling shots from Nikon Wednesday. Hamish, as always, wonderful shot... full of mood and speculation. Would take a long time to mention all the others that impressed me today.
This shot was taken two weeks ago on Cumberland Island, Georgia. Cool and breezy day with intense sunshine.

This is my first post on the Wednesday thread, as until a couple weeks ago my only piece of Nikon gear was a lens cleaning cloth. But I recently acquired a Nikon F3/T and some lenses, but haven't had a chance to run any film through it. My cousin came over for Thanksgiving with his D80, I put a couple of them on it and took some pictures. It was tricky to focus accurately without a split-prism or live view, but I got a couple keepers. This one was taken the day after Thanksgiving when it stopped raining/sleeting and the sun came out. I rushed outside to get some shots before the ice melted. I used my 105 f/2.5 wide open for this shot.
My favorite image so far is Doug Santo's. I love the tones and shapes.

00XmXL-307631584.jpg.5491b6efb7c1e953f7f400cf55bac35a.jpg

My contribution is a picture I took the other day on my way to the Mandela Way T-34... err... local Royal Mail office. I liked the contrast between the Shard and the classic London brick railway bridges. The mist contributes to give some special air to the tall building. All taken with my usual gear: D60, 35mm f/1.8 AF-S DX.

00XmYq-307655584.jpg.da7b1efa57b7ae3fbb36db8ca79e4403.jpg

Hi Pieter
In relation to the raptors, i think they may be a type of sea eagle sitting on a dead pandanus branch. I frequent Caloundra on a regular basis as my parents have units there so i should know. At home i have a book on birds in the local area and will have a look at that to see if i can identify them

Some lovely photos, just to pick out a couple, Tim Holt's, Bogdan Nicolescu lovely classic photograph and Chris Wick's wacky family. Also, thanx Jose for your nice remark last week. Here's a fun pic involving 3 good friends, a king size bed, Caipirinhas and a D700 with 17-35.
