Andy Collins
I cannot imagine that any camera could be more pleasurable to operate than this one, the XE-7, or XE-1 across the pond. The film advance is so smooth and the shutter action is even smoother; it's almost more fun to use without film in it just because it feels so good to operate. Ralf, I hope you're seeing this! In all seriousness, this is truly a great camera.

james_kennedy9
Andy, your XE-7 is indeed a beauty. They tend to brass, so your is well cared for.

Now everyone, tell me what the next camera is, being put to magnificent use in snapping Mary Tyler Moore in the second show of her first season in 1970. Camera looks neat, also.

leicaglow
James, that's a tough one. Maybe a Mamiya Press? The flash is easy. I have several Honeywell Strobonars that I still use.
james_kennedy9
Michael, I don't know. Just came across it. It looks fairly compact for what I presume to be a larger format than 35mm.
Mike Gammill
I think it's a Mamiya Press 23. My father used to use 'em to photograph weddings.

Mike Gammill
You may be right, Clay. I think the Mamiya had a slightly wider body. My father had the later Super Press 23 with the 90mm lens. Got 20 6x7 negatives on 220 film so it was good for weddings. The first wedding I photographed was will the Super Press 23.

cj8281
Hey Christopher do you have any of the other backs for the Medalist II? They made a back that you could use sheet film in it. That is one of the reasons the back is so easy to remove. Nice hood by the way. The first ones are really easy to tell as the barrels on most of them are black and they don't have the flash socket but a fine focus knob there.
jodys
Camera pr0n? I think I can do that....

Here's my current Minolta collection: SR-1 with matching meter on a funky 2-prong thing on the front and a 55mm f2 Rokkor PF; SR-1s with matching meter on a cold shoe on the front, with 58mm f1.4 Rokkor PF; SR-7 with integrated 2-scale meter in the top plate (circular cell on the front, left of prism), and a pancake 35mm f4 Rokkor QE; finally, my newest (SLR-type), an SRT-101 CLC (with a working link on the lens mount for the matchstick/circle meter in the prism) with a generic Vivitar 28mm f2.8. I could post test shots from all of these, but I don't think that's what this thread is for.

Sadly, these are all destined for eBay as we just bought a house last night and I'm told I must make sacrifices. Sniff. I'm going to go off in a corner and cry for a while.
