terry_evans3
Hello, I just received my Crown Graphic, and need to order a user manual. The serial number is: 925192. I want to know the exact model and manufacturing dates in order to get the right manual. Also, I have searched the web for serial number information, but can't find it. Where might that be available.
Thank you,
Terry
jason_losh
Hey Terry,

This is the best info I've found on the subject
http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=10923
You use the letter/number code under the rails to determine manufacture date.
BTW, have fun, I love my crown Graphic so much I stopped using my Canon 5D and bought myself a complete 4x5 darkroom.
kelly_flanigan1
About 1957 by the list held tight by the HOBBITS on Mount Graflex!

terry_evans3
Wow, that's strange. There's a 41 under the rails. Maybe it's 4L. Does that seem right?
thirteenthumbs
Graflex did not start printing date codes until 1960.
http://www.graflex.org/helpboard/viewtopic.php?t=3321 (feel free to copy).
Graflex assigned a batch of serial numbers then built the equipment according to demand. Dates were not associated with the serial numbers until the early 1920's. Pre date code equipment can only be approximated as to date of manufacture.
Your s/n was near the end of a batch of 2000 listed in late November 1956 with the next batch of 1000 listed in early February 1957.

http://www.cameraeccentric.com/html/info/graflex_4.html save each page.
http://www.southbristolviews.com/pics/Graphic/manual-pdf/servicemanual.pdf
http://www.southbristolviews.com/pics/Graphic/manual-pdf/TRFPacemaker.pdf
http://www.southbristolviews.com/ graflex exchange link
terry_evans3
Again, thank you Charles. I read your posts from years back in the searches I do. You and Dan both are just a wealth of knowledge.
terry_evans3
Jason, do you have the 135 f2? The 5D is worth having just for that lens. BTW, do you have the Graphmatic Film holder? Mine came with one, in original box and instructions. This thing is so cool. I bought it from the son of the original owner, which lives only two hours from me. Camera, Graflex flash, film holders, and original case. What a piece of work. All in excellent ++ condition.
