gunjankv
I was waiting for Canon to announce one FF body in September. They already announced D60, but no other bodies.
Just trying to check is there any possibility of canon coming up with 3D or may be 5DM3 kind of body?
Should I wait? - I need to buy FF

scott_ferris
Gunjan,

Next one should be the replacement for the outdated 1Ds MkIII, so unless you have $7,000+ and a few months minimum before they became available even if they are announced at photokina in just over a week, then I think you are safe to get a new 5D MkII, or a secondhand 5D, 1Ds, 1Ds MkII or even the 1Ds MkIII.
nathangardner
The next FF will most likely be the 1DS Mark IV and will be in the range of $8000-8500. So unless you're prepared to sell your first born, I'd go ahead and get a 5D II or 1DS III now. The original 5D and 1DS I and II are also very capable cameras for a cheaper price, leaving more money for lenses. :)
dallalb
Don't wait, Gunjan! I just got the 5D II and I think it's a wonderful camera and you won't miss anything if you buy it now and then Canon will announce a 5D III...
Alberto.
markonestudios
Gunjan, D60 is a Nikon. Canon's is a 60D ;-)
Go for a 5D2, you won't regret it :)
test11664875106
While on bhphoto.com price for 1Ds MkIII is more or less the same as before, in Europe the price has dropped a lot - on amazon.de it cost now "only" 5099 EUR, and calumetphoto.de has it for 5899 (it used to be close to 7k EUR). There must be some reason.

KenPapai
They already announced D60

Yes, back in 2002 they did, you win. The D60 was the father to the 10D -- the 10D was the DSLR that started this all (there may be slight room to argue for the D100 as well). Before the 10D you had to pay too much money for a whole lotta nothin'.

dan_south
If Canon follow historical trends without going in any new directions, a 1Ds Mark 4 could come along sometime in the next year and a 5D Mark 3 could follow about a year later. However, that's a big IF. They might shake up their whole model line. They might focus on mirror-less cameras. They might decide that a 1Ds camera won't sell well in a bad economy. They might call their next camera Yoshi or Fujisan or Godzilla. Well, probably not, but you get the idea. Companies innovate, and the future is notoriously difficult to predict. heider
I don't believe there's going to be any new ff camera released from canon this year. The 5d mk2 is a great ff camera that is difficult to replace. A wise person would upgrade every 5 or 7 years because there are no big leaps in the general sence. However I was taking to a person who I trust from a reputed dealer in Canada and he said that they heard that the 5d mk3 is going to be released in spt of 2011
