SCL
It depends on what you are looking for. I usually merely stop briefly in Phoenix then head up to Sedona, which I find infinitely more scenic.
bladowphoto
Somewhere other than phoenix, In all honesty its not a very photogenic city. the Papagos are kinda cool and if you climb north mountain early enough you can get cool sunrises over the city.
william_roberts4
If you are into plants and flowers, there is the Desert Botanical Garden and the Phoenix Zoo was pretty good when I went there. I only spent a couple of days there so I am not sure of much more. Hope this helped a little.
derek_hofmann
Weaver's Needle seen from the Peralta trail east of Phoenix is interesting, but go in the morning before it gets too hot.
You can get a good view of Phoenix from, I think it's the Ridgeline trail on South Mountain, but I could be thinking of Beverly Canyon or Javelina Canyon.
Then there's the Compass Room at the Hyatt Regency, but it's pricey. But the fountain at Fountain Hills is free to watch, but it gets boring real quick.
famico
I'll second the Botanical Garden if plants and flowers are your thing. Not sure if it's still there, but the garden did have a Dale Chihuly glass exhibit throughout the grounds, and it was quite something to see.

doug grosjean
There can be great nightscapes from South Mountain Park. If monsoon season is holding up, you can shoot lightning from an open-air observatory at the top. I have a nice sample of that in my photos.

Papago Park is good, towards sunset, so western sun lights up western exposures.

Crown King and Jerome to the north, and Canyon Lake / Apache Trail to the east, are all fantastic.

But the stuff I've listed outside of Phoenix can take a while. I assume you're there on business?
