What is the difference between Headshots and Portrait Photography?

What is the difference? Is it just words? Or are there style differences?

Headshots is the new terminology for modern Portraits. But when we think of portrait photography we think of school pictures, old studio boring images.

<br />

Headshots in my opinion means a modern professional portrait images. An image for casting, facebook, tweeter and any professional modern means. An image by a professional photographer that is well captured and exceptionally finished with all the latest and most innovative tools.
