ric1
Hi,

I have a Gitzo G2380 head on a Manfrotto 190B tripod. The head unit has a 'quick release' plate

http://www.warehouseexpress.com/webcontent/product_images/large/88/13973.jpg

What would be a good L bracket for this head please?

Thanks,

Ric

Dieter Schaefer
It is my understanding the the Gitzo QR system is not directly compatible with the Arca Swiss/RRS/Kirk type QR - which are the only ones I know off for which camera L-plates are offered. You may need to add this adapter to your head: http://www.gitzo.com/cms/site/gitzo/accessories/adapters?code=GS5160CDT

Dieter Schaefer
I doubt that any company still makes L-plates specific for cameras that old. Believe Kirk makes a universal L-plate, not sure if Really Right Stuff does so too or not. From Kirk, you need this
http://www.kirkphoto.com/Universal_L-Bracket_35mm_camera_bodies.html
and this camera-specific plate:
http://www.kirkphoto.com/Camera_Plate_for_AE-1.html
ric1
Thanks Dieter,

I had a sudden Zen moment when I realised I would probably never get all this equipment together in one place at one time - certainly not in time for the current project, so after half an hour in the spare room disappearing beneath a small mountain of old camping gear and occassional camera bags I surfaced with the trestle bed of a small telescope which I converted into a super telephoto lens many moons ago. I have screwed this to the Glitzo and affixed the SLR to the trestle in portrait mode. Pictures to follow.
