Happy WedNEsDAY everyone!

First, thanks for comments to my last week's PiC to Douglas M. (the 2nd reflection was just pure luck), Peter R., Tim H. & Greg K. Sorry that I missed the commenting phase again!

This one was shot on Monday while visiting my fathers grave (his grave is where the red roses peek from the snow). He passed away 21 years ago and there has never been this much snow on his grave. The graveyard looked really beautiful with all that soft pure white snow.

Hello everyone, my first post to Nikon WedNEsDAy!
This was taken while in Vancouver in 2003 from a high up hotel room in West End overlooking English Bay. The sun was low just peeking over clouds on the horizon and reflecting on the water when a many masted old boat went by. While there is no info in the EXIF portion of the image, I do remember using a borrowed D70 that had a Sigma zoom lens. It was probably set on auto so who knows what the exposure and shutter speed was. I used a clamp-on tripod -- clamped to the steel rail of the balcony.

Anyway, hope you enjoy.....

Hey all,

Following these threads for a few months now, I only just registered and this is my first submission. I live in Amsterdam, and winter finally seems to have given way to spring. Birds are busy and whistling again, people sit outside at bars, having a drink in the cold, fragile early spring sunshine.

I like harmonious images, organic, classical beauty. However, I wanted my first contribution to be taken on the day itself, and my most interesting picture of today shows the opposite.

American Apparel billboard in sharp contrast with the beautiful canal and houses in the background. Every day I ride my bike along the place to work. It's a lovely spot in Amsterdam; the majestic museum of the tropics is right behind me as I take this picture.

Contributions so far are excellent as always. Photos that I really liked so far:

Thomas Gerstendoerfer (nice shot in low light, love the lighting and constrast)

Jeff Farkash (very appealing natural, happy setting; hard to capture these moments)

Doug Santo (seemingly simple shot, but it keeps drawing my attention; beautiful setting, and the distortion adds to the scene)

Snow is not the only thing that seems to linger 'round here this year. The other afternoon my wife calls me in the basement saying, "Bring your camera and HURRY!" Grabbed the machine (D700) and went pounding up the stairs hoping I have the right lens mounted for whatever she's talking about.
"Wha . . . where . . wazzup?" I inquire. "Look at this!" she says pointing to the top of the sliding door out to the deck. At first I see nothing until I get very close and . . Holy Cow, an icicle hanging from a spider web? Sure enough. Spider's long gone, though her egg sacks are intact, but as testament to the strength of her silk, I offer the attached taken with the 24-85D at about 85 in program mode

00VuKA-225633584.jpg.05f11f9849884c182ee498b52889ec04.jpg

Good Wednesday to you all. Here's an older shot I call Nanny. It's about 1986 and shows my mother-in-law holding my older son, now 23. It was shot on Nikon F3, TriX and 85 f2 lens. Right now Nanny's in the nursing home after two medium strokes and is doing so-so but this is a true Italian Nanny, so she still bosses everyone around ;)

I have been laid up in the bed due to my back so I pulled out a photo from January. All of the photos are really beautiful today and it perked me up a bit being able to look at them. Anyway this is a shot of one of my side yards. Just looking at it makes me think about spring that is getting ready soon to come to Western Kentucky.
