tom_mann1
Sheesh, you guys are fast. Here's my version - I prefer the patch tool for something this simple. One application of it and you're done. Detailed directions on how to use it can be found in lots of places on the web, in the PS help files, etc. I left a bit of color in the area of the flare to hide the change in the texture in the ripples of the water in that area ... vaguely suggesting there might be something underwater in that spot.

Tom M

tom_mann1
Andrew, what camera / lens did you shoot this with? The primary flare pattern around the sun is unusual.

Tom
ajrobertson
Canon 40d sigma 10-20mm 4-5.6 not the new one. Do you think it may be because i tried to hide most of it behind the pine needles on the branch at top right?
tom_mann1
Yup, I bet you're right: I hadn't thought about diffraction from the pine needles as a possible source.

Thanks,

Tom M.

nathangardner
patch tool as well.......... do you use a lens hood, this may help nix the problem from the start.
andylynn
Lens hoods don't help with that type of flare when the sun is in the frame.

Nice shot. That sun is pretty cool.
