How interchangeable are Kirk/RRS plates and L brackets among the xxD bodies?

<p>I think the title says it all -- I have a 30D, want to get a plate and/or L Bracket, does anyone know if the Kirk or RRS plate/L bracket for any of the other xxD cameras will fit?</p>

Since RRS has plates for the 30D, why do you ask?</p>

<p>The Kirk's regular plate for the Canon 40D and 50D are the same, I'm almost positive the L is also the same. Not sure about the 30D though.</p>

<p>Charles -- I ask because I'd rather save some money and buy a used plate, and my options will widen if I can look at more than just the "official" 30D plates. There doesn't seem to be much change in the overall physical characteristics (shape and size) of the xxD cameras, so it seems reasonable to me that the plates could fit multiple bodies. I thought someone who has had a (for instance) 20D and 30D and uses the Arca-Swiss style plates would know for sure.</p>

<p>The acratech plate will also work just fine, bhphoto has it for $40 with free shipping. Or look for it used, part #2159. Acratech plate works fine with Markins and Kirk clamp in my experience.</p>

<p>I had the RRS L-bracket for my 40D with battery grip, and it would not work properly with my 50D. The L-bracket fit alright, as the battery grip fit both cameras. However, the hole pattern for the cable release did not match up with the hole pattern on the 50D. Don't know if it would fit the 30D.<br>
