gary_conrad1
I am headed back to digital after a foray into large format. I have seen refurbished D300's for $799 from the Shutterbug through Amazon.com. Do any of have experience with the use of reconditioned Nikon cameras?

John Crowe
Refurbished D300 bodies are available at Adorama for $1399, which does seem quite high, but I would be careful about someone advertising them for $799.

Cameras and lenses that have been "refurbished" by the likes of Nikon and Canon are generally demonstration models returned to Nikon/Canon by retailers who cannot sell them as new. The manufacturer tests the equipment and then generally re-packages them in cheaper boxes for re-sale by retailers at reduced prices. They generally carry a manufacturer's warrantee, usually 1 year. Definitely worth considering, from reputable dealers.
Dieter Schaefer
That price would be a steal. When I checked shutterbug at amazon, all I found was about $1375 plus shipping for a refurbished D300 - more in line with other offerings from cameta camera and adorama.
Two23
I bought a refurb D300 from Cameta Camera (ebay) a year ago. It looked and worked like new. I'll definitely be looking at Cameta for my next camera.

Kent in SD

homer_arment1
I bought a refurb D300 from the good folks at B&H a little over a year ago and it looked like a brand new camera. I haven't had any problems with it since I got it.

HLA

linda degrasse
Yet another vote for Cameta. I have purchased quite a number of refurbs from them over a few years and have never been disappointed. The equipment is like new and the warranty is good also. I have always found them to be great to deal with.
sebastianmoran
I've been very happy with Nikon refurbs; they were perfect and had warranty. Cameta often has these, and I have had excellent experiences buying from them (once ordered the wrong thing, they fixed my problem very smoothly).
