Can anyone give any advice re. cable release vs remote? also, is 24 dollars a good price for k10/k20 batteries? i know some people go off brand for them. c2500
They really need to think about their shipping charges.
matthew miller
Eh. The clearance prices aren't so great — for example, once you figure in the shipping, the DA★ 50-135 is only 2.5% cheaper than B&H. And the AF540FGZ is more expensive !

michael_elenko
Trevor,
I see no reason for a wired cable release. Wireless works. But you should be able to score a wireless Jianisi for $5 including shipping if you search. The same device works on Nikon, Canon, and Konica-Minolta cameras too. Buy two or more, they are small and easy to lose.

ME
wayne_campbell
So what's so great about these prices?
jgredline
Actually, the prices are not that great. The fish eye cost a little more at b&h so that would be where I would buy it from. Better for me to pay a little more and get good service.
andrewg_ny
The wired cable release allows you to lock the shutter open for bulb, and also allows a half-press for AF which you can't do with the IR remote. That said, I find it sometimes tricky to actually get half-press with that remote though it sometimes works for me. Anyway, I like it for tripod work. You can extend the cable with extension cords as well.
scott_meilicke
Often clearance, going out of business, etc. type sales have increased prices. It works. People get charmed into thinking they are getting a good deal because of the 'clearance'. There was a good piece about this practice on This American Life when Circuit City went under. The first thing the liquidators did in that case was increase prices to near MSRP. And the product flew off of the shelves.
Scott
shaloot
hey now, I never said these were great prices, :-) just pointing out to some folks a place where Pentax gear was going on sale... now if you use Bing cashback, then it's some good deals to be had.
bobbollinger
I am pretty sure Wolf/Ritz is in bankruptcy, so they are selling off inventory to raise cash for creditors.
