bengt_ljungkvist1
I have a Hasselblad 503CW body and I frequently, with a PME90 metered prism and an A16 back, enjoy the 645 format. My question is, whether the viewfinder mask should be so difficult to impose the prism upon, or if I am doing something wrong?
Greetings
Bengt
scott_murphy_photography
What I did was take out the focusing screen, carefully measured it's length and width (not the same as the film format) inside the metal rim, and then did some conversion calculations to account for the difference in size. I then carefully measured the dimensions with a set of calipers and marked the screen with a black fine-tipped Sharpie, and laid some black electrical tape directly on the screen and trimmed it with an X-Acto #11 blade. Works like a champ!!!
graham_martin2
There is a mask that you can buy. When I got my A16 back from KEH it included a 645 mask.
russ_britt3
I have marked the screan with a grease pencil.....it views as black in the viewfinder, and wips off with a soft cloth. It leaves no glue or other marks to deal with latter.
bengt_ljungkvist1
Hi Graham,
I already have that mask (unless there are different ones) and it feels too "thick" to permit easy handling.
Russ, your idea is the obvious one, but for me maybe not the best, since I change between 6X6 and 645 too frequently.
