Here's my new companion, never leaves my side and she also cries when I leave. She's a real sweetheart and very affectionate. Her name is Mercedes Sosa, named for the Argentine singer who coincidentally passed away this morning.

00UeoY-177985584.jpg.65c15a30a063d942206403341c093830.jpg

Wilbie was named after Wilbur from Charlotte's Web. I chose this name for him because when he came to me at 8 weeks the plan was to sell him for my relative who had bred him. Everyone in my family was intent on selling him, except me. I felt like the young girl in Charlotte's Web who had fallen in love with Wilbur and wanted to keep him. The joke around the house was, he "will be" sold, or he "will be" given to a new home. In the end, it was he "will be" staying with me! I had fallen for him.
Within the first year, Wilbie need knee surgery on both of his hind legs. Chihuahuas are prone to needing this surgery, but the bad breeding by my relative worsened the conditions for Wilbie. I didn't hesitate on having the surgery done. For each of the surgeries, I always nursed him back to health. The way I see it is, sure the surgeries were expensive; however, I have helped another living being have a fulfilling life. And Wilbie has repaid me time and time again with his undying devotion to me. He has helped me get through some pretty tough spots. Besides... how could I ever say no to a face like this?

This is Kenny, my beloved dog. He is an amazing being, full of joy and energy. I can't even begin to express my gratitude towards this little guy. He fills my life with magic and happy moments, and has been there for me unconditionally. We have traveled allot together and in this particular photo we were in Cuetzalan, Puebla (in Mexico where I live) for New Year's of 2007. I hope your dog's knee surgery goes well.
My best wishes to both of you,
Marichelo Alzati

This is Mojo and Maka Koa both brothers from different litters ...both are HUGE (18 lbs) and they bring us nothing but joy (lots of laughs and hot nights with the two of us and the two cats in bed - hot!) and mommy gets to practice making pictures with them! Don't mistake them for "cute" kitties. We actually call them the Siamese mafia - they walk out the door and will likely be the ones beating up some other cat in the neighborhood.

This is a photo contributed by my son David. This is Bella, an 11 year old mixed breed dog who is my son's family pet. Josh, you in particular, I suspect, can understand the anguish a family experiences when a beloved pet requires budget-breaking life-saving medical care. Somehow we found the way and Bella had the necessary surgery at one of NYC's finest animal hospitals. Today Bella continues the loving and beloved family pet. She is getting along fine four years after the amputation of her left fore-leg because of cancer.

My wife and I have 3 fantastic animals, two female cats one called "Jaz" and the other "Cleo". Jaz is the oldest cat that took to me and had little to do with my wife. We got Cleo for my wife and she was close to my wife until she had a litter of kittens. She still stays close to my wife. Our third animal is a beautiful golden labrador called "Molly", when we go out she displays her disapproval by removing her blanket from her basket.

So my husband and i have been married for over a year but have been together for 8. Our parents continue to pester us as to when we might be having kids. So here they are. They are a whole heck of a lot less expensive than human kids, we can leave them for a day and not worry, and they don't talk back. One does have farts which might be considered biological weapons, and the other tried to climb up the fire place the other day, but generally speaking, we couldn't be happier. They are both sisters: Slinky and Dagny.
Up first, Dagny.

My photo shows Sugar (mother) and Spice (son) a month after we adopted them from our local Animal Humane Society. They are absolutely inseperable, and do everything in unison. Twice in their lives they were found living in the wild after being abandoned, and twice more given up to shelters. Hopefully we can provide them with a Forever Home.

00Uf3H-178089684.jpg.7d5711c583151e79b9a04abe64ded7ff.jpg

This is Simba, our miracle kitten. She's a Manx kitten who, with her twin, was mercilessly dumped on our property by someone with no heart at an approximate age of 3 or 4 days old. Her sibling passed after a couple of days with us but little Simba soldiered on and managed to make it through feedings every 2-3 hours, near-constant toileting, and seemingly hundreds of bottles of formula. She's the most beautiful kitten you'll ever meet and has both of our hearts wrapped around her own, but she returns the love she's been raised with in abundance. This was taken about a month ago at 3 1/2 months old. I think she grows a little every hour! She's a lucky kitten and I guess in the end, it's a good thing she came to us. She'll have a wonderful life.

00Uf6m-178113784.jpg.f31be4594a267bf9f236322af114f988.jpg

OK, I give up. Tried every imaginable way to upload a photo and it's not going to happen! Next, tried to delete my "empty-of-photo" post, and can't make that happen, either! Bad night in Brentwood. Sorry, but you'll miss seeing a photo of a beautiful black Mini-Schnauzer and as well as a gorgeous red/orange bi-color kitty who wears orange nail caps on his front paws.

Photos like these are one of the reasons for photography. Whether digital, or film. Black & white or color. They are all important little snippets of our lives. Pets add so much joy to our lives, and ask so little of us. Many of these fine photos of these furry friends brought back wonderful memories for me. Thank you all for posting them.

We took care of this little one for about a month this summer. I felt like a kid again. It was really great having a dog around. We eventually had to send her to her 'mommy' who had just moved to Indonesia. We will probably get a dog next summer, if things work out as planned.

I'll play. This isn't my cat, but she thinks she is. Her name is Millie, but I never have to call her - she just comes to me if I'm at my g/f's home. Acually belongs to my girlfriend, but is intensely loyal to me. Ignores my g/f all week, and then jumps into my lap when I arrive, sleeps on my side of the bed. If I'm not there, she sleeps on my housecoat. If I don't let her on my lap while at the computer, she climbs up on the furniture above me and just stares as I type.

00UfQg-178243584.JPG.cd5a2c7a9e0c8eb18844c80f2421c5e2.JPG
