Help: Panorama Storage, Shipping.

Recommended Posts

I recently started doing panorams, some of my finished products are 13x24 and 13x36. My question is what are your ideas storage, or shipping these photos. I have tried to store then as rolls, but they seem to get damaged opening them for viewing. I tried to have one (13x36 framed and all I got was a wavy picture that they damage. Yes, I got my money back and am not waiting to collect on the photo. Thank you inadvance for your ideas. Tom

Roll them with the largest practical diameter, typically 4 to 6 inches for shipping. Have them dry mounted (hot or cold) on a vacuum press for framing and use a mat. Many commercial framing shops have a suitable mounting press. Acid-free foam core makes a good base for mounting.

I don't recommend rolls for long-term storage. Either mount panoramas for framing, or display smaller versions flat in a portfolio. Inkjet prints are easily scratched by their own corners in a roll with frequent or careless handling.

i get my printing done in full gloss. jumbogiant.com seems to be using epson paper. the tube diameter varies. smallest i have gotrten is about 2 1/2 -3inches. the tube length varies with the print size. i have gotten tubes up to about 5 inches. for multiple pics they separate the pics with sheets of paper so that a photo never touches anouther. and they are promt service. if you order over a weekend you will have the tube in your mailbox on thurs or friday. though you give instructions to them on the order dom, i have had them call me to ask questions on what i meant or how i would want something appear and be done. although they are not the cheapest out there, to me the service and printing quality is first rate. oh, they also print canvas as well. i have some 20x30 prints that are near 4 yrs old, still in their tubes and they look as good as the day i got them.
they have a faq page, and you can call them, as well as a price list. i find it interesting that they only require 150ppi, and with that they can print any size they have. from 8x10 to 40x60, and 20x80 panoramas.
