White/Dark Lexan Plastic?

<p>I'm sure you've all seen these shots that the object (usually an object) is placed on a surface that shows it's reflection in the direct bottom of the photograph. This looks to be shot on a surface such as white or dark lexan/plastic. Very similar to the icons that float across the dock of your Mac OS 10.5 (granted you use a this). The question is this: is there a common material that is used for this rather than trial and error until I find something that works (usually the way I work but I thought I'd ask first)? Anyone have any experience with this type of material?</p>

<p>I use black plex. I think that's pretty much standard.</p>

<p>This was shot on 1/8" black plex. Be aware that because it's black, it soaks up a lot of light, and shows every bit of dust.</p>

<p>His tutorial is for portraits, but I don't see why you couldn't modify it to use on just about anything. Cheap, too (which I like).</p>
