Fujinon 240A or 300T on Horseman FA or HD

This has been addressed generally but not specifically, as far as I

can see. Does anyone have any experience with the Fujinon 240A on the

Horseman FA or HD camera? This is at the outside edge of what is

supposed to work, but I'd prefer it to a 210 lens. Will the 300T

work? What is the closest focus with either? Horseman HD & FA bellows

draw is 249mm.

I use the Fuji 300T with a Horseman HF, which has the same

bellows draw as the FA and HD. It is a very sharp, compact lens

for the focal length. With a 1 inch extension board it can focus to

around 6 or 7 feet. I got the board and the lens from Midwest

Photo Exchange.

Matt, I own both of these Fujinon lenses. I've used the 300T for quite a while, and just received the 240A. Haven't had the opportunity to expose film with it yet. I'm using these lenses on, both, a Toyo 45AII and a Shen Hao. The cameras have relatively short bellows extensions, but they easily handle the focal lengths, focused from about 25 feet to infinity. Both lenses are mounted in small Copal 0 shutters. I also have a Fuji 210 CM-W mounted in a Copal 1 shutter. It is a larger, heavier lens. Forget about close-ups and extreme movements with the 300T. It wasn't designed for that purpose. The 240A has a huge image circle. It can easily be used with the 5X7 format. However, it would take 480mm of bellows extension for 1:1 close-ups. The 240A has a 52mm filter thread.I use a step-up ring for my standard 67mm filters and lens hood. I believe that both of these lenses are uniquely designed, excellent quality lenses. You can't go wrong with either one. I purchased them from Jim, at Midwest (mpex.com). He stocks a lot of new and used Fuji's. His prices are very reasonable.

Hope this is not a duplicate post as my connection was a bit

flaky earlier and not sure my original go tthrough.

In any event I use the 240 A on a Horseman FA and have no

trouble focusing at infinity. I also focus closer sometimes but

am not sure just how close you can go. Remember that with the

FA you can get additional bellows extension (23 mm if memory

serves) from the back bellows. I'd be happy to do an exact check

for you in the studio ... if you need same just send me an email.

From a practical point of view this is one of my most useful field

lenses. When I am traveling "bare bones" light it is the 240 A

and a 110 Super Symmar XL that go in my kit as the two lenses.

Luck,

Ted
