june_daley
Hi everyone,

I currently own a Canon ip4600 which produces wonderful prints that I am very happy with, however I would like to upgrade to an A3 printer so I can offer larger prints to my customers. I'm seeing that the price increase to an A3 is large, I'm thinking of the Canon Pixma Pro9000. Does anyone else here own an A3+ Printer? What brand/model is it? Any reccomendations?

Thank you!
June
mikael_karlsson
Hi June:

I have a Hewlett-Packard Photosmart B8550 and the results are surprisingly good. It's not too heavy in the ink use and the inks are quite affordable.
philip_wilson
The HP is better than the Canon 9000 / 9500 but I am not sure about the mark II versions of these printers as they are just new on the market. At the moment the Epson 2880 is the best reasonably priced A3+ printer around but the inks are expensive. If you want B&W then Epson is the way to go. If you print a lot then bigger (more expensive) printers will actually work out cheaper as you will pay less for ink (e.g. Epson 3800). This should be posted in digital darkroom. Here is a previous version of this common question.

http://www.photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/00S93E
