Old photo, taken around 2007, but not edited until a few days ago. The Achilles heel of the D2H is near-IR sensitivity. Some black fabrics turn out distinctly magenta no matter how careful the lighting and white balance. This black background cloth appears purple in the original. Using hue-to-target brushes I converted the background to light gray. A similar trick can be used on skin tones affected by this quirk of the D2H and other earlier model digital cameras.

00UCCj-164503584.jpg.df4285e31a1f81773a95ecd356096d3e.jpg

Lex, how did you get my OM1. I could swear it’s in my bag loaded with Kodachrome 64.
Great Wednesday like always everyone. My today’s entry is taken with my first Nikon camera FE2. After 22 years still going strong. I would say like new. It never let me down. Sorry for not as good scan. Dwayne’s process Kodachrome perfectly but its scanning job sacks. It was taken on 10 years Kodachrome 200 with light blue filter to compensate for magenta color cast caused by outdated film.

00UCDR-164507584.JPG.1744cafe9d07545121374c17e459ac1f.JPG

Hooray for Wednesday and all the beauty, inspiration, humor and skill.

Janne....wonderful eye for light and the simple things that are so often overlooked and most beautiful.

Oskar....the phrase "worth a 1000 words" (at least!) comes to mind

Paul....congrats on your grandson and your ability to capture such an important time

Benjamin....one of the best flower shots I have seen on PN...good for you for breaking the mould!

Susan...not usually a big bird pic fan, but I love the colors and the pose of your beautiful subject...bravo!

Paul...thank you for the contribution...I wish the image was a wee bit bigger. It is really lovely from what I can see.

Here is my contribution from a recent business shoot...I really don't know what it is, but it looked really important, quite abstract and the room was dark with weird yellow light....how could I resist?

00UCDq-164509784.jpg.a814a39965ecba349e95a76e484a5ec0.jpg

So many great photos this week. Here´s my contribution: It was taken in the Stockholm Archipelago on an island called Alkobben in the Norrpada Archipelago. It is an HDR image made out of three exposures (-2, 0 and +2). The EXIF for some reason says 50mm, but I used an D700 with a AF-S 17-35mm f/2.8 lens at ISO 200, 17mm, f/8.

Sjoerd, Alex, Tim, Benjamin, Tiffany -- thanks for your kind comments! The scene came across me in a recently opened botanical garden where there was a small stream and a pond. I didn't find any sign, but assume it's some sort of art installation since the place was well kept and the table was meticulously laid out. Incidentally, this was the last shot I got before my camera's battery ran out (forgot to charge it beforehand). I think the scene would be more interesting at dusk, but I hadn't been to the place before so I wasn't anticipating anything.

Good photos this week, maybe the best week so far. Too many interesting ones to mention, so I just pick some to comment on :-)

Dieter, I like the light and composition. Well executed.

Janne, nice minimalism in the shot.

Matt, interesting documentation of a cicada. I live more north than those critters so I rarely see them first hand.

I always look forward to Wednesdays and enjoy the pictures taken from around the world. This is a pic of a swan I shot at our local park in May at about 9 in and morning. I always enjoy the elegance of their look on the lakes and ponds around here. I used my Nikon D300 with Nikom 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.

Late in the day, but I just got in and wanted to contribute. This shot was taken a while ago while on vacation with my family to the Mayan Riviera at the Tulum Ruins. As the time went on the sky became more amazing with each shot I took. This one was taken about 5 minutes before we had to meet at the tour bus. Very little noodling in Aperture. I contributed this for critique way back and only got a couple responses. I welcome any input you may have. D200 18-200VR at 18mm. with Nikon Circ. Polarizer - ISO 320 (auto) f9 - 1/320.

00UCI1-164555584.jpg.1eb93a4c310f96e42b3f5c5cf535a9fc.jpg

I tried to photograph this creek a week ago but didn't have my boots with me. This time I was prepared and although the stones were slippery, I didn't crash my camera. I started with my Mamiya but the back cover stopped working so I went back to my car and got the Nikon out.

This creek is called Myllypuro and it resides in Nuuksio national park just a short car trip from Helsinki.

00UCI5-164555684.jpg.cf285516a39de469e5d52c2fcb08a68f.jpg
