chelsea
I can't find my manual that came with this zoom lens. On the side of the lens are 3 button/seetings: AF MF (focus), Stabilizer on/off, and stabilizer mode 1 & 2. My question is, what are the 2 stabilizer modes?

I'm also on old slow excruciating dialup and haven't found my answer with a google search.

Thanks!
JeffOwen
Mode 1 will stabilize the lens in all plains i.e. up & down and side to side, mode 2 will allow you to track an object without stabilization in that plain but will correct shake in the other plain.
alan_bryant1
....Which is to say,

Mode 1 is what you'll use most of the time,

Mode 2 is what you'll use when you're panning the camera - ie, moving the camera during the exposure to follow moving objects, like cars or bikes or something, to blur the background but not the car/bike/whatever.
chelsea
Thankyou both for your prompt answers. I couldn't remember which was which. I shall write this into my Rebel manual, which I keep in a ziploc bag in the camera bag.
