Question about EF 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 DO IS USM

<p>I can't find my manual that came with this zoom lens. On the side of the lens are 3 button/seetings: AF MF (focus), Stabilizer on/off, and stabilizer mode 1 & 2. My question is, what are the 2 stabilizer modes?</p>

<p>I'm also on old slow excruciating dialup and haven't found my answer with a google search.</p>

<p>Mode 1 will stabilize the lens in all plains i.e. up & down and side to side, mode 2 will allow you to track an object without stabilization in that plain but will correct shake in the other plain.</p>

<p>Mode 1 is what you'll use most of the time,</p>

<p>Mode 2 is what you'll use when you're panning the camera - ie, moving the camera during the exposure to follow moving objects, like cars or bikes or something, to blur the background but not the car/bike/whatever.</p>
