GE A835 - modification question

<p>HI - i picked up a GE A835 P&S seen below:</p>

<p>Couple things i want to do to it - and the price is/was right for this experiment.<br>

1) - i want to hack the firm ware and make some changes - like adding or allowing Manual F-stop settings if possible. I've got the firm ware update - so where do istart to learn how to hack this thing? Sounds like a stupid question but if i knew ow to do it - i wouldn't have to ask. Someting like CkDsk for Cannon which i know is OS i'm hoping might work for this.<br>

2) I want to change the lense out - again this may sound silly or stupid but, it's my experiment. ;0)<br>

My question is - how do i acces the lense with out completly destroying the camera. Anyone taken one of these things apart and got to the lense?<br>

<p>Larry - this one is real inexpensive as far as digitals go - $69 at comp and i hear its going down even further.<br>

This one definiitly needs modding as far as th lense and firmware. but might work for your modification as well. At least it's inexpensive enough to experiment with.<br>

Then again, software apps will do pretty decent IR in the digital darkroom from what i understand. Well simulate it anway.<br>

I want to change out the lense personally - see if it makes a difference.<br>

Firm ware mod to allow F/stop /Appature manual settings. I'm surprised they didn't add those features - the firmware is nothing to change for these programmers - it's a small camera application, and i say that not taking anything away from programmers of course.<br>

I know it can be done - so i want to do it if the company that made them won't update it with some better features. It's not like they put a Leica lense in it to drive cost up. At least they could give me the software options!!! ;0)<br>

Well someone has had to take one of these apart and knows how to get to the lense - that's priority for this modification.<br>

And someone else i'm sure knows how to hack the firmware like CHDSK did for Cannon cameras.<br>

hopefully they'll speak up for both our experiments.</p>
