andylynn
That's crazy. The model of Mac has nothing to do with it, it's the version of OSX that determines whether the printer driver will work. In the cast of the 3800, yes, the driver runs on OSX 10.4.11 (AKA Tiger).
markfields
Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your info. I do have a g4 desktop and i am in the middle of upgrading the OS so I can run the 3800.
I also have the Ibook and I had been told (by an epson rep I might ad) that I needed a Powerbook. Of course I do know that its the OS that is important but I appreciate you pointing that out.
Do you happen to own the 3800? Happy with it? any news about its successor?
Thanks again,

Mark
andylynn
I have a smaller/older Epson (R800) and an older Macbook Pro with 10.5. Works fine for me. In addition to accepting larger paper and larger cartridges, the 3800 adds gray inks so it does a better job on gray tones.

Customer service reps have lists of compatible hardware that are based on what they tested with. They're only allowed to read off the list.
colin_mattson1
The iBook will work fine. Assuming you stick to reasonable resolutions (~360 and under), it should be fine. It won't be the fastest thing on wheels, but it'll print.
17x22/17x25" really isn't large enough you're going to take a huge performance hit using an older computer.
andylynn
In grad school we were always printing 36x48 using computers made in 2002. If it gives you any trouble, upgrade the RAM - it's cheap.
