simus
Hi, I recently bought a Panasonic Lx3. Wonderful camera. Anyway I just wonder which file output do you choose? Raw or Jpeg, and if jpeg what setting you prefer. I am currently using raw just not to go wrong if, I also find smooth, dynamic and natural to be nice. thanks for looking / helping, ciao, Antonio
eric merrill
I shoot entirely in RAW. As an example, I can get extract better detail from clouds in the sky with raw than with jpeg.

Eric
jeff_bubis
I also use RAW exclusively... The only drawback for me is the lack of Aperture compatibility for the Panasonic RAW format... As a consequence, I use Lightroom as a workflow manager for all the files that come off the camera, and use Aperture for my DSLR files.
bruce_margolis
Antonio, I also shoot only RAW with the LX3. Conversion hasn't been a problem because you can use either PS (at least one that can be updated to the appropriate ACR) or the supplied software that comes with the camera. I happen to have PS so it was an easy decision for me.
bill_tuthill
Just to present the other side, LX3 owners have remarked on photo.net that RAW isn't worth the hassle; out-of-camera JPEG is good enough.
jcuknz
I have only used RAW as an experiment and would normally [ 99.999% ] shoot jpg at the highest setting, least compression, the camera is capable of. Nikon it's called FINE Panasonic FZ's I call it 'seven dots'. The inconsistency of my position is that I often do a fair amount of tweaking in editing.
albertdarmali
I use highest JPG settings exclusively. Yes, the cloud or pebbles might have a tad more details if you eyeball the picture at 100%, but I can't really be bothered with small incrrements like that.
Brad_
RAW exclusively. Why not... Zero hassle. And you can pull more out of imperfect exposures. www.citysnaps.net
simus
I have done some trials and i feel happy with the jpg elaborated by the camera which grant anyway much space for PS enhabcing. Anywat i'll set the camera for raw+jpg in the case i should need anytime the raw file. Rhanks for sharing you experiences. Best regard, Antonio
anuragagnihotri
hi,
i entirely shoot in JPEG.
it takes the hassle out, and is great for learning (to take bang on shots)...
there's another reason for this though: with a 400D, the software opens the raw image to show exactly like i lshot it/like a jpeg...but LX3 doesn't do this...
and jpeg from LX3 are good.
here is my work done with LX3:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/agnihot/sets/72157619540388908/
regards,
anurag
