kathryn_hayden
I am looking into different payment options for customers and would like to get some input from this group on what they are using ---
-- credit cards. I haven't had a big need for this yet, but expect at some point I will need to provide. What systems are folks using and are there any tips for looking for a provider (offline and online).
-- checks. do you find the need to use some kind of verification service, and if so, who do you recommend.
thanks in advance for the input.
dean_tomasula1
Cash and PayPal works for me. With PayPal, clients can pay with either a credit card or a checking account. It's easy and safe.
alec_myers
I do well with Paypal and Google Checkout. They're by far the cheapest for card payments until your annual turnover is well into six figures (here in the UK) because there's no monthly fee or rental. I suspect the situation is similar in the US.

William Michael
Cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX + fee, Direct Funds Tranfer, NO Cheques, except from previous established Business Customers. NO Bank Cheques. (Australia).

I think turnover will predicate the use of Credit Cards - lest they slug too high a fee from you - well that's how it is here

Cheques are just a pain in the butt, IMO.

WW
William Michael
One of the many games, with cheques, FYI: http://www.photo.net/wedding-photography-forum/00TidZ

***

Also, the money transaction type depends on your business profile - if you are mostly web based and e-mail communicative, PAYPAL or a similar set up might be much more suitable than cash, as one example.

And, for any monies paid well in advance (such as a deposit or booking fee for a Wedding) might allow the acceptance of a Cheque, as another example.

WW
aimee_pieters
Credit cards are preferred as your clients will typically spend more as they have time to pay it. I use PayPal as the fees are OK and there are no monthly fees or minimums, just the commission. So if you don't use it, you don't pay....-Aimee
