mfophotos
I really enjoyed his rants in Lenswork. He was refreshingly honest, and I better go and download his essays before they disappear.
paul_miller10
Bill Jay was one of my photography professors at Arizona State University. He was a wonderful mentor full of enthusiasm about photography which he passed on to his students. He once told me he enjoyed my presence in his seminars because we frequently disagreed. He found that more stimulating than the students who accepted everything he said instead of creating a dialogue. He was also very funny. His death is a great loss to the world of photography.
rustys pics
I often go back to his book of essays "Occam's Razor" for inspiration. Photography just lost a friend today.
joshroot
I moved this thread over to the casual forum because I want to make sure as many people as possible see it.

Bill Jay was a great photographic author and someone with a wonderful view of the world of imaging. He's one of the few people in photography that I actually had the urge to meet and share a beer with. I will miss his writing. Everyone should read both Occam's Razor and On Being a Photographer (written with David Hurn).

Sucky day for photography.
