bob-c
Daniel, that's some nice shooting. Congratulations, hopefully there will be many more this summer. I believe this is a red-tailed hawk but correct me if I am wrong.
daniel_tong1
Robert
Yes. It is. And the new birdie season starts really well indeed. Last few months I have been shooting girls with my long lens . Actually not quite long
Daniel
personalphotos
That's great stuff Daniel. You got some sharp and close images for a 300mm lens. Well done.
shots worth sharing
Wow, Daniel, those are great ! Luck, yes--but not just luck ;~)

Ok, so the secret to shooting raptors is to practice on girls, huh? I'm not sure my wife will buy that.

daniel_tong1
Peter, Todd : Thanks for the positive input

Dave : Have not thought of the co-relation between raptors and the ladies. Being a 300mm shooter, I am more used to shooting girls at its FoV at the 200-300mm range. And there came the 200mm portrait lens at least in winter time.

Gee there is a difference. Women came towards you on the catwalk. But out in the field you chase after the raptors. The former is still easier

Daniel

daniel_tong1
David
That is precious. Job well done. If I am correct, their nests are usu quite inaccesible. Also you have both of them turned around facing you. I am quite good in getting images of their butts.

Daniel

brad_n
Really nice shots Daniel! Beats my best red-tail pics - I just haven't been able to get that close.
debashish
Most of these Red-tailed Hawk pictures are very enjoyable. Shows, at least in Daniel Tong's case, what an SMCP-A 300mm/F4 can do if the birds are in range, the light is good and the photographer knows what he/she is doing. The other pictures do not state the identity of the lens. Still doesn't let Pentax off the hook for not producing a new 400mm lens, preferably for 35mm.
daniel_tong1
Brad, DC,

Thanks for taking time to comment. I am all for Pentax releasing more tele. With present line up , its telelens are just too pricey even if you can find it

Daniel
