Matt Laur
That feature (when enabled) allows someone who is visiting your gallery to, essentially, have the system send an e-mail to a third party, inviting them to see the image, too. It doesn't send the recipient a copy of the file, it sends them a formatted page/link that brings them back to this site to see the image. Sort of like a greeting card. I don't really have a feel for how well or often it's actually used. I've never bothered disabling it, since I suppose I don't mind the visibility that it (perhaps!) generates.
Michael R Freeman
Using one of Matt's "nice doggy" photos as an example, this is what the eCard email look like:

An this is what the link in the eCard email takes you to:

Personally, if I wanted someone to see a particular photo, it would be a lot easier to just send them a link, but I suppose some of those from the "facebook generation" like these kinds of gimmicks. :-)
Matt Laur
Nice (and laborious!) tutorial, Michael. I'm sure that puppy would be flattered to know he's now a part of PN's educational history.
jainamishra
Hi !
I was just worried that by the time I evolve from the blur novice that I am today, to an awesome dazzling photographer (someday soon in this lifetime hopefully !) .........I would have lost ownership and control over my pictures, to all the e-card companies in the world if I enabled that feature.
Obviously I needn't worry any more.
I can sleep in peace now !
Thanks
Jaina Mishra
