lucas_jarvis
Do the Nikon camera's allow you to use fill flash with their auto iso feature? I've bought a Canon 5D II and unfortunately when you turn on the flash it defaults to iso 400, even if it's clearly to be used as fill (-2).
Ray House
I don't know a thing about Canon cameras...however, I would be willing to bet you can initiate full manual control of your flash settings and ISO. This is just to much of an advanced camera not to allow it. Yes, Nikon does allow auto ISO with flash use. If you ask in the Canon forum those folks will know alot more than I do and can probably walk you through the settings. Best regards, Ray
pete_s.
Nikons auto ISO defaults to your manual ISO setting as well (when you turn the flash on) and only raises the ISO when the flash is uncapable of illuminating the scene. Maybe Canons auto iso works the same way.
eric_arnold
in other words, set ISO to the lowest value before turning on auto-ISO to avoid overexposure when using flash.
paul_b.1
Late Canon cameras (40D,50D and 5DmKII) use ISO 400 as default all the time, with or without flash. When both camera and flash together are uncapable to aceive correct exposure , the ISO will be adjusted up or down. Nikon's auto ISO default is 200.
