Forum for the many people with non-forum specific problems

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I notice that the various "equipment" and other forums are filled with messages

from people who are really just asking general photography-related questions.

Canon EOS, film and processing, etc. are full of questions that are not really

specific to those forums. How do I shoot this sort of event, etc.

Has it ever been considered to open a new forum that deals with general/basic

technical questions? I think it would make the equipment forums much nicer to

browse and participate in.

Keith

The problem is people post where they are most comfortable or where they are used to posting. If the have a Leica and shoot B&W film, they're likely to post a question about B&W film in the Leica forum rather than the B&W film forum.

Just because you have a forum for a particular topic doesn't mean that people will post to it.

Moderators do move posts around if they think that they will get a much better response in a forum more focused on the topic under discussion, but not every marginal post gets moved.
