john_kasaian1
Hello! Can anyone point me in the right direction to find information on gum arabic printing and how it is done? TIA. Cheers!
larry_roohr
Hi John, A web search on 'gum bichromate' or 'gum dichromate' should get you a lot of info, check Stuart Hamish'es site when it comes up in a search . The best source IMO for getting started is the first issue of Judy Seigals 'Journal of Post Factory Photography', I think she did a reprint and has more #1 issues available, info available at: http://unblinkingeye.com/Articles/Post/post.html There are also several books out there, none of which measure up to JPFP for getting a start, but have a wealth of information, let me know if you'd like titles. It's a most rewarding process, prints evolve rather than develop over many coat/develop cycles taking many days or weeks with as many as 12 layers not uncommon, or single coat one shot prints are possible as well. pat_krentz
As I remember The Keepers of Light had a section on that, I don't think it is still in print but you should be able to find a copy at the library. Pat

gauthier
Funny you ask, as I was just about to do so too. I just started gum printing yesterday - it took me some time to get hold of all the materials - I got some interesting results. The process still remains a bit unpredictable to me, though, so I'm looking for more info on some of the finer points. <p> I'll check the sites that have been mentionned here.
