robert_janke
Anybody tell me which bulb I use in an Durst 659 enlarger? The north american representative comes back with "we don't service that model any more". I had hoped they would at least know this simple fact.. Bill Bowes
Hello everyone. My C700 enlarger uses a special point source bulb but I have always found this buld (approx 75w) to produce excessive time/f stops when printing. Even the PH211 does the same in my D2 enlarger. I like about 30sec and f8 for max sharpness of my 35mm and 120 negs. General Electric (GE) makes several round, frosted bulbs (without printing on the bulb top) for vanity light systems in 40, 60 and 75 watt values. I have been using these recently in place of the recommended bulb. They produce a softer light (almost like an Opal glass diffuser) and by swapping them out, I can get very close to my ideal time/f stops. They are cheaper than the special photo bulbs but will require some recalibration as to times and filter numbers( I use VC papers). Enjoy, Bill
