Has Canon published a ship date for the Canon 5D Mark II?

 

If so, when does Canon expect to have 5D Mark II bodies available at retailers?

As per the Canon press release when the camera was announced, late November. Most reputable dealers are telling their customers late November to early December.

I was told first week of Dec when I checked on my order last week. I don't know how accurate that guess by the dealer will end up being as this camera is on the pricey side of Xmas gifts so Canon may not have that pressure to release it. Although, certainly their stock holders would like to see some news on success of the release before the end of the year so who knows?

I still see the old 5D in the back of magazine ads. I wonder how long that is going to last. So sad.

Agreed about the original 5D. Truly one of the classics; it was a game-changer for DSLRs. Plus, the IQ still compares very favorably to some newer models. Only problem is this--mine is wearing out.

Then go for it, the new 5D that is, I might do that in a couple of years and that should be my LAST camera.

I just spoke to customer service at Adorama. I am #368 on their 5D Mkii wait list. The guy I talked to said that in the

past Canon has typically shipped 40-60 bodies at a time, and shipments hit every couple of weeks. He could give

absolutely no firm guidance on the Mk ii, but if history repeats itself I'm probably waiting about two months after the

official release date, which is something like Nov 23. Ah well.
